Future Thinkers Session is a monthly open platform to meet and chat with other ‘self-proclaimed’ controversial deep thinkers, scientists and philosophers… basically anyone who likes to think about anything. This is a realistic, fun and empowering meet-up about applying science to social concern. Don’t worry, we don’t put you on the spot… there’s no expectation to explain your position, and no expectation of any qualification. It’s not in our ‘cynical yet idealistic, atheist, technocratic anarchistic activist’ nature. 😉 😛
This month’s topic is the science of happiness. We will be exploring and questioning the purpose and benefit of technology on our lives, discussing this Jacque Fresco quote “All of the marvels of Science and Technology – all of the electronics and mechanical wonders – are just so many million of tons of junk, unless it enhances the lives of people”
We will be exploring what the latest scientific research shows about what on average makes people happy and what makes people miserable.
Please feel free to sit at the back and hide in the corner, or announce your opinion of some particular policy, or share your understanding of a scientific discovery or discuss your general thoughts on a particular topic.
After the event we either go out for dinner or drinks depending on what people want. If it’s dinner it will be at the Communal Bar and Eat House just outside of the Library or the Criterion bar and restaurant just around the corner. The formal event usually finishes up around 6pm. But if anyone can’t make it to the library but still wants to hang out you can meet us at the after party 😉
