Movies That Matter: “97% Owned”

Movies That Matter is our monthly film and discussion.

This Saturday we will show the 2012 film “97% Owned: Democratise our Money Supply”, by Michael Oswald (director) and Mike Horwath (producer).

When money drives almost all activity on the planet, it’s essential that we understand it. Yet simple questions often get overlooked, questions like; where does money come from? Who creates it? Who decides how it gets used? And what does this mean for the millions of ordinary people who suffer when the monetary, and financial system, breaks down? Produced by Queuepolitely and featuring Ben Dyson of Positive Money, Josh Ryan-Collins of The New Economics Foundation, Ann Pettifor, the “HBOS Whistleblower” Paul Moore, Simon Dixon of Bank to the Future and Nick Dearden from the Jubliee Debt Campaign. Ben Dyson talked about Positive Money in ZDay 2015 London.

The film will be shown in Lane Cove Library. Seats are limited, so RSVP is essential. We will meet at the main door of the Library at 1PM sharp. Any latecomers, please text Ziggy to 0415583998. After the film we will gather at a cafe to chat about the film, and to choose what we will show next month.

See you all there!
