Theatre Night!
Hey Geisters!
The Theatre Grubs workshop is on every Thursday evening from 6:30pm until 9:00pm at 121 Cordelia St, South Brisbane.
We would love to see you and a friend there as we head in a exciting direction to create theatre that bites. As usual, you will learn how to work in a team and contribute to the development of new performances that will empower you and those around you, as well as develop new skills!
Each week we share our experiences and knowledge to dig deeper exploring what kind of production we can put on. We feel that some important social/philosophical/political messages can be addressed and delivered to our Brisbane community through a theatre production.
So come along, join us and let’s have a say in our future through creating art that bites!
TZM Sydney meetup: Participation
Hi Geisters!
This coming Satuday we’re meeting again to plan, organise and coordinate activities and activism. It’s been a few weeks since our last TZM Sydney meetup, and we have a lot to catch up!
Several activists from around Australia met up last month in Melbourne, and a lot came out of that meeting. We’ve been chosen as next year’s location for the main Z-Day event in March, which will happen in Brisbane! This is an opportunity for us to shine with great talks, talented artists, fantastic food, and a large crowd of committed Aussies, in this 2-day long massive event.
We’ve also launched Movies That Matter, a monthly meetup to watch and discuss important documentaries, along with thought provoking short activism clips. Unfortunately the latest Movies That Matter meetup had to be cancelled, we apologise for that and look forward to seeing you on the next one.
We have an upcoming project for street activism distributing awareness-raising printed material, and need to discuss and coordinate efforts, so that it is a whole chapter activity rather than an individual’s activism.
As usual, the meetup will be two hours long, from 1pm to 3pm (notice the times have changed!), at the Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts.
Please promote this meetup among your friends and anyone you think might be interested! Looking forward to seeing you all there!
Monthly Movies that Matter – The Price of Infinity Jan 2017
The current economic paradigm is on a collision course with the natural world. These political, economic and environmental issues can seems depressing, but by discussing them, we can begin a dialogue on these issues in order to solve them. This monthly movies that matter we will discuss the concept of money. The history of money. The history of paper money and finally money in the digital age where most money exists as zeros and ones in computers. Is this state of affairs sustainable? What are the implications for the environment when we have a debt based monetary system that demands exponential growth in a finite world. We will be watching a 6 part mini documentary on the history of paper money from the youtube channel ‘extra credits’ with discussion in between each video.
Come together on the 3rd Saturday of every month with Zeitgeist Movement supporters to watch an interesting and insightful movie/documentary for discussion.
Each month represents an important theme, such as education, war, politics, money, communication, technology or science.
Before the movie, we will give an update on what’s happening with the Zeitgeist Movement, some short clips leading up to the feature film, followed by a discussion and dinner at a nearby restaurant afterwards.
A great way to meet like-minded people, enjoy a movie and talk about some of the most important issues and discoveries of our time. We look forward to meeting you.
