Monthly Movies that Matter – October

The Zeitgeist Movement Queensland brings you Monthly Movies that Matter, a free event this month screening Human Resources.

Human Resources is a documentary about Social Control, examining the history, the philosophy and ultimately the pathology of elite power.

Check out the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHNdPp_TOFs

Each month we also vote on next month’s movie or theme. Everyone in attendance is welcome to make a suggestion and vote using minimum-opposition. Check out last month’s vote here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1a2qMFEOPcWyO88MXOzDU32cLyUHlFGXbVDFga46hHss/edit?usp=sharing

The event will be held in the Brisbane Square Library in the Theatrette free of charge. It’s a perfect opportunity to learn more about a more positive future, find out more about what’s happening in the Zeitgeist Movement locally, nationally and globally… and if you’d like to be more involved. Most importantly, it’s a great way to make friends, connect with like-minded people and have a great time.

After the film we mingle at Jojo’s in the city, please feel free to join us for this too if you can’t make it to the movie. Feel free to bring books to trade… and to bring your flash drive to share resources.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Monthly doco, wine and discussion

Melbourne Zeitgeisters!

This is the 6th instalment in the regular monthly documentary event. Even if you’ve seen the doco being screened, the doco night is a great chance to see how the issues and material presented relates to the movement.

This documentary will be ‘The 4 Horsemen’

The modern day Four Horsemen continue to ride roughshod over the people who can least afford it. Crises are converging when governments, religion and mainstream economists have stalled. 23 international thinkers come together and break their silence about how the world really works and why there is still hope in re-establishing a moral and just society.

Monthly Hackerspace

Common over to our monthly technology hands on meetups. Here you will likely have a great time doing one of two things:

1. Learning the basics of programming and electronics with expert help, detailed handouts and videos

2. Meeting fellow computer wizards and collaborating on an advanced project that at this stage is likely to be a Segway robot but we can decide on something different 🙂

Note:
The event is 100% FREE

IMPORTANT: BRING YOUR OWN LAPTOP ( we only have 2 extra)

The event is hosted by the Clayton Library and is open to the general public

MONTHLY DOCO thingy :P

Hey Melbourne Zeitgeisters!

This is the 5th instalment in the regular monthly documentary event. Even if you’ve seen the doco being screened, the doco night is a great chance to see how the issues and material presented relates to the movement. We will look at SOUTH OF THE BORDER. OLIVER STONE goes on a road trip across five countries to explore the social and political movements as well as the mainstream media’s misperception of South America while interviewing seven of its elected presidents.
